Ford Factory-Level Power Upgrade
At MPG Tuning, we offer a range of upgrade options for the 2.0 EcoBlue engine, tailored to how your van is used and what benefits you want.
A great match for later SID212 ECUs – MS-RT performance target
Many owners travel long distances specifically for this upgrade from MPG Tuning, located in Cannock, Staffordshire, but in easy reach of major roads, M6, M6 Toll, A5, A38, M54, M5 and more.
The upgrade itself is quick – normally around 30 minutes, which is about the time it takes to sit down and enjoy a free tea or coffee.
Stage 1 ECU Remap
For drivers who would like stronger, more responsive performance, our Stage 1 calibration provides a noticeable improvement. This is especially well-suited to Transit Customs equipped with the SID211 ECU (2017–2019).
Your Transit May Feel Underpowered
Ford released the 2.0 EcoBlue with several factory power outputs:
- 105 PS
- 130 PS
- 170 PS (MS-RT)
- 185 PS (Sport)
The lower‑powered versions weren’t limited because the engine couldn’t handle more — they were tuned cautiously because Ford expected many vans to live a tough life: heavy loads, towing, stop/start driving, and high mileage. The engine itself is easily capable of producing more. Ford has already shown what it can safely do from the factory.
Our Goal – Power That Works for a Working Van
We’re not chasing dyno EGO numbers.
Our focus is real‑world improvements:
- Stronger torque low in the rev range
- Easier towing and hill driving
- Fewer gear changes
- Reduced daily strain on the engine
Our goal is simple: make your van easier and more pleasant to drive while keeping reliability at the forefront.
MS-RT Performance – A Realistic Benchmark
When customers ask for “MS-RT power,” they’re referring to the factory 170 PS model.
That level of performance is:
- Fully validated by Ford
- Proven in the real world
- Strong without being harsh or aggressive
For many working vans, this is the ideal balance: a noticeable uplift while remaining perfectly suited to demanding daily use.
Will the Upgrade Affect Reliability?
No, not when done sensibly and correctly, but beware, there are a lot of amateurs offering what on the surface appears to be the same as us.
In fact, more torque can often reduce strain because the engine does the same job with:
- Less throttle
- Lower revs
- Less effort when towing or carrying loads
Most reliability issues come from poor servicing, the wrong oil, or stretching service intervals — not from well‑designed power upgrades.
Upgrade Options
Option 1: Factory‑ Original Power Increase
On compatible EcoBlue models, we can apply a higher, factory‑validated calibration that increases power and torque while retaining all of Ford’s built‑in protection strategies.
This option:
- Keeps OEM safety limits in place
- Improves drivability
- Is ideal for vans working hard every day
We’ll always confirm whether this is the right approach for your van and its usage.
Option 2: Custom ECU Remap
For drivers who prefer sharper performance beyond factory output — for example, light‑duty work, leisure use, or a sportier feel — a bespoke remap may be more suitable.
This option provides greater flexibility in:
- Power delivery
- Throttle response
- Overall output
We only recommend it if your van’s condition and daily use support the upgrade.
Which Option Should You Choose?
Before working on your van, we’ll look at:
- How the vehicle is used (towing, loads, daily mileage)
- Service history
- Current software version
- Mileage and overall condition
Our goal isn’t to chase an impressive number; it’s to choose the calibration that best suits your vehicle and typical usage.
About the EcoBlue Wet Belt
A common worry for owners.
The same wet timing belt is used across all factory power levels. Its lifespan is mainly affected by:
- Incorrect oil spec
- Long or overdue service intervals
- Short journeys that prevent full warm‑up
- Fuel dilution from failed DPF regens
Our upgrades don’t increase belt stress when applied correctly.
Towing & Real‑World Driving
When a van is used for towing or carrying significant loads, we keep the calibration smooth, progressive, and controlled.
This isn’t about turning a work van into something it’s not — the priority is always making work easier, not making the van aggressive.
In Summary
- Ford has already proven what the 2.0 EcoBlue can safely handle
- Lower power versions are simply conservative calibrations
- Sensible tuning dramatically improves drivability
- We prioritise usable torque, not big figures
- For working vans, the goal is less strain, not more stress.
Monitor It. Control It. Protect It.
Real‑Time DPF Monitoring + Manual Regeneration**
With our optional dashboard DPF display and manual regen feature, you can monitor soot levels and trigger a regeneration when needed.
This helps:
- Reduce fuel dilution in the engine oil
- Minimise wet belt wear
- Keep the engine cleaner and running more efficiently
