VW Golf 1.6TDI Limp Mode after Emissions Recall

Question: Would the emissions recall cause one of my injectors to fail (as diagnosed by the AA) and should the dealer fix this for me? the car is still under warranty.

Answer: It is possible that the injector/injectors could be damaged because the emissions recall update changes the injector workload by forcing another cycle.

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to check the injectors as you believe it has failed as a direct result of the emissions update and that you are still under warranty.

From what we have heard some problems associated with the emissions recall update are being fixed under warranty, however once your car is out of warranty you might not be so lucky.

Other Mechanical Failures

Other owners have reported a wide range of issues that they believe have been caused by the VAG emissions recall fix, including but not limited to EGR valves, DPF Filters, Erratic running, poor fuel consumption, poor performance.

Ongoing Future Problems

If you are experiencing mechanical issues as a direct result of the emissions recall patch, even if those parts are replaced by your dealer they can and may well occur again in the future (if the emissions software recall has caused them in the first place, it will do the same to new parts in the future)

VAG EMISSIONS SCANDAL RECALL

Some car owners have been victim to the highly publicised VAG Group emissions scandal and resulting manufacturer recall.

Owners are complaining that as a result of the software update applied by VAG group, there are multiple negative and unintended issues now affecting many 1000’s of cars 

Options

1. Sell the car, although there could be some legal issues around this if you knowing sell a car that you know has issues (you would need to check with someone with legal knowledge on this)
2. Face future repair costs if the dealers do not
3. Undo the emissions software patch (Rollback Tune)
